Zipperless Jacket: Why Cross-Closure is the Future

Design & Pattern Making · The Wrap

The Perfect Wrap
Explained in six gestures.

A well-designed women's wrap jacket doesn't rely on a zipper or a belt that comes undone in the middle of the afternoon. It depends strictly on the construction of the pattern.

"If you've ever discarded a wrap garment because it "opened on its own" or because the tie was bulky under your coat, this closure is for you."

The Mechanics

An asymmetrical double button

In WRAPJKT, the fit problem is solved by THE WRAP: a system with an inner and an outer button that secures the lapel and structures the collar without loose elements. It works like this: first, you cross the inner lapel to the opposite side and secure it. Then, the outer lapel wraps over it, anchoring to the visible button. The result is a clean silhouette, without the need for zippers.

The Fit

Why the wrap changes the volume

The two-button wrap adjusts the garment. That's why we speak of a true one-size-fits-all S–XL: for sizes S and M, the jacket has an oversized, editorial drape; for L and XL, the same wrap settles into a natural fit.
